Why you need to be there.
"KINSMEN: Summit is neither a conference nor a retreat. It's an intentional gathering marked by presence, proximity, and embodiment. The speakers, sessions, and dialogue often centers on our faith, our identity as sons and fathers, and the vocational work to which we've been called. As a result, we have carefully planned a meaningful and intentional 2.5 days. But what will make this gathering memorable—as we've learned over the past couple of years—will be realized and experienced in the moment.
You'll just need to be there to find out."

Sam Deford
Pastor, Counselor & Songwriter
Sam is a pastor, biblical counselor, and spiritual formation leader with nearly 2 decades of ministry experience. He earned a degree in Biblical Studies from Southwestern AG University and is currently completing his Master of Divinity at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. Sam was one of three founding pastors of a church plant launched in 2010, where he spent over twelve years helping shape the church's vision, spiritual formation, and discipleship culture.

This experience led him to recognize the vital role of biblical counseling in the life of the Church—a form of soul care that speaks to the whole person. Out of this conviction, Sam has stepped more intentionally into the counseling arm of pastoral ministry, combining theology, spiritual formation, and emotional health into his work with individuals and families.

Joey Odom
Author, Entrepreneur, and Keynote Speaker
Joey Odom is a keynote speaker who helps leaders, families, and teams develop the superpower of presence to build stronger trust, connections, and focus in a distracted world.
His journey began when he missed his young son's first soccer goal while staring at his phone. That moment prompted him to co-found Aro, a first-of-its-kind technology company that created a software and hardware solution to combat screen time and build presence. Over seven years Aro helped tens of thousands of families reclaim millions of intentional screen-free hours.
Today Joey speaks at churches, conferences, universities, and corporate events, including Liberty University Convocation, Passion City Church, Breakaway at Texas A&M, and the Thrive Leaders Conference, among others. A graduate of Oral Roberts University and former top-producing commercial real estate executive, Joey also hosted The Aro Podcast, a top 1% global show.
He lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife Cristin and their teenagers Harrison and Gianna.

He is also the founder of Intentional Fatherhood and partners with Justin Whitmel Earley in this work, calling men to lead their families with purpose, presence, and faithfulness.

Throughout his years in pastoral ministry, Sam encountered the deep and complex needs of individuals navigating spiritual, emotional, and relational challenges.
Sam lives in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with his wife, Audrey, and their five young children—Flora, Freya, Winifred, Whitaker, and Ira. In the middle of raising kids, Sam continues to pastor, counsel, write songs and sermons, and invest deeply in the life of the local church. Sam speaks with a pastoral heart and a deep desire to see men formed in the love of Christ.

Peter Ostapko
Founder - KINSMEN
Peter is the Founder of KINSMEN and Publisher of Kinsmen Journal. Publishing has long been a dream of his, though only in recent years did the dream become more clear. This platform and voice has been birthed out of his belief that God is good, and that each of us have a story to tell, because of a Savior that redeems.
Each of our speakers are practitioners and masters of their craft.
Each of our speakers are practitioners and masters of their craft.
We’ll use a combination of keynotes and breakouts with our speakers. We want you to learn from them, but we also want you to get to know them too. With KINSMEN: Summit being limited to 100 total men, including our speakers and guests, we’ve intentionally set aside time and space for you to learn from one another as well as intentionally deepen friendships, especially new ones. Many of our speakers will be with us the entirety of the summit, so take the opportunity to connect with them.
Our Location
Our Location
Once again, we'll gather at Big Cedar Lodge and Top of the Rock for our 2026 Summit. As in previous years, we will center our time at Top of the Rock, including the Wine Cellar and Chapel at Top of the Rock. New this year though, we'll gather in the intimate Worman House for our Monday sessions, and in Harry's Lounge on Sunday evening as we kick off the gathering with a speakeasy vibe. We've added some fun during our breaktime on Monday as well, which includes the golf simulators at Fun Mountain. In all, the food, environment, speakers, and connections will make for a memorable few days.
